Taking attendance

  1. Open the class from Classes and go to its Attendance section.
  2. Pick the session date.
  3. Mark each enrolled student as Present, Absent, Late, or Excused.
  4. Save.
If you mark a student Absent, a notification goes out automatically — to the student, and to their parent if the parent is subscribed. You don’t need to do anything else to notify anyone. Attendance you record here rolls up into that student’s Attendance tab on their profile (see Grading & Tracking Progress), so patterns like “3 absences this month” are easy to spot without recalculating anything yourself.

Logging a behavior note

  1. From the class, from a student’s profile, or from Behavior in the sidebar, add a new behavior note.
  2. Choose the type — Positive, Negative, or Neutral — and a severity from Minor up to Severe.
  3. Write what happened, and optionally what action you took.
  4. Mark whether the parent should be notified, and whether it needs follow-up.
Behavior notes build up in the student’s Behavior tab over time, so a pattern (repeated lateness to class, consistently helpful with classmates, etc.) is visible at a glance rather than buried in individual incidents.
